Halloween and Party Recipes That Kids Love!
This Halloween, make the delicious snacks below and you will have a wonderful time. You can even have some on hand for your Halloweeners and let them join your Halloween party for a few moments as they visit your home on Halloween night.
Frozen Ice Cream Jack-O-Lanterns
Ingredients:
12 navel oranges
12 cinnamon sticks
½ gallon dark chocolate ice cream
- Instructions:
Cut the tops off the oranges.
Carefully hollow out the pulp from the orange.
Hollow out pulp off tops of oranges also.
Cut Jack-O-Lantern faces into each orange.
Pack chocolate ice cream into the orange shells.
Don’t let the ice cream come out of holes on the face.
Cut a hole into top of orange top.
Set tops back on, over ice cream, and inset cinnamon stick stem through the hole.
Place in freezer for at least 3 hours, or until serving time.
Frozen Witch Hands
- Ingredients:
Disposable Clear plastic gloves
Twist ties
Scissors
Green Non-carbonated Drink
- Instructions:
If the gloves have a powdery residue inside them, turn them inside out and soak in warm water or wipe with soapy water and rinse.
Allow gloves time to dry before starting.
Pour your favorite green drink into the gloves.
Add enough drink to fill the gloves loosely but not so full that the fingers will not move. Fasten the gloves with the twist ties.
Place paper towels on a cookie sheet and lay the hands on the paper towels.
Allow enough time for the hands to freeze. (Approx. 3 hours)
When the hands are frozen solid, carefully cut off gloves with scissors.
Float hands in a bowl of punch for a scary Halloween punch.
Soft Pretzels
- Ingredients:
1 egg white, beaten gently
2 sixteen ounce loaves of frozen bread dough
1 teaspoon water
Coarse salt
- Instructions:
Separate thawed bread into approx. twenty-four 1½ inch balls.
Roll each ball into a rope approx. 14½ inches long.
Twist into desired pretzel shapes.
Put pretzels one inch apart on greased cookie sheet.
Let stand for 20 minutes and brush with combined egg white and water.
Sprinkle with coarse salt.
Place a shallow pan containing 1 inch of boiling water on bottom rack of oven.
Bake pretzels at 350º on rack above water for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool Crafts for Kids
Here are a bunch of really cool craft ideas that are not only fun to make, but very, very cool to play with too. ENJOY!!
Silly Putty
- Ingredients:
1 part Elmer's Glue
1 part liquid starch
Any color food coloring
- Directions:
Stir with a spoon, then with hands. Add more starch if too sticky.
Play Dough
- Ingredients:
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup salt
1 ½ to 2 cups boiling water
3 to 4 Tablespoons vegetable oil
Food coloring
- Directions:
Add oil and food coloring to boiling water.
Combine remaining ingredients, and mix well.
As you knead it, the dough will get smoother.
Store in airtight container.
Long-Lasting Bubbles
- Ingredients:
3/4 cup liquid soap
1/4 cup glycerin
2 qt. tap water
- Directions:
Mix well. If using straws to blow bubbles, poke a small pinhole near the end of the straw to prevent sucking in the solution.
